Environmental Engineering - M.EA
Environmental Engineers are dedicated to the prevention and identification of environmental impacts, to the application of technological solutions to mitigate them, and to boost the sustainable development of industries and societies.
Environmental Engineering is reported as in the top 5 of the Future Engineering professions3 (TOPUNIVERSITIES. Rankings), has a transversal dimension and is expected to be more actively present in projects and interventions in society as part of an ecosystem.
Starting from the academic year 2021/2022 the Faculty of Engineering of Porto University offers two independent study cycles in Environmental Engineering, the Bachelor and the Master.
The Master in Envioronmental Engineering - M.EA - corresponds to the second study cycle in higher education, and comprises two components: a master course and a scientific dissertation.
The Masters course consists of 90 credits and lasts 3 semesters. Based on the skills acquired in the first cycle, a broad spectrum of topics are explored ranging from climate change, acoustics, environmental impact assessment, life cycle and risk assessment, marine hydraulics, to the design of facilities for the treatment of gaseous, liquid and solid waste effluents, as well as for the rehabilitation of soils, integrated in a broad regional perspective with support in the management, law and economics of the environment.
The Master allows the deepening of knowledge on topics of interest to each student with optional Curricular Units (including onle that can be selected from the training offer of UP) as well as a range of consolidation curricular units aimed at students without prior consolidated training in structuring areas.
The dissertation corresponds to 30 credits and has an estimated duration of 1 semester. The public defense of the dissertation allows obtaining a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering. |
