Courses Units

Bibliographic Survey

PRODEB005 - ECTS The aim of the course unit is to carry out a monograph on a topic related to the doctoral work.

Seminars in Biomedical Engineering

PRODEB031 - ECTS The main objective of this course is the transmission of knowledge and experiences in the Biomedical Engineering area through a set of presentations from academics and company leaders in the area.

Students are also expected to deepen their knowledge on a specific topic by carrying out a group work that must be presented publicly to the teachers and other colleagues.

Special Topics in Biomedical Engineering I

PRODEB032 - ECTS

Thesis Project

PRODEB027 - ECTS Definition of the topic and scope of the doctoral work by drawing up a research proposal and corresponding work plan.

Research Techniques

PRODEB009 - ECTS

The learning objectives in this subject are those of providing each student the possibility to learn one or several experimental techniques of relevance to the respective PhD thesis.
This is therefore a work focused for each student to allow rapidly advance in the experimental capability to enable the student to show high performance in dealing with experimental work. This may be bench work, field work or any other type, as in virtual environment or through computer tools.

PRODEB033 - ECTS

Advanced Training / Scientific Communication

PRODEB029 - ECTS
The objectives of this curricular unit are twofold:
- on the one hand, this UC gives the possibility to each student to carry out advanced short courses directly related to topics relevant to their thesis and thus allow close knowledge of the main scientists in each specific topic, being possible to attribute credits to each of these activities;
- on the other hand, it fosters the realization of scientific communication activities, which can also be credited, thus favoring the training of students in this important component of scientific activity, through oral and poster communications in different contexts (conferences, invited lectures and within research groups), thus stimulating the acquisition of skills in science dissemination.
