Description:

The Doctoral Program in Environmental Engineering (PDEA) aims at advanced training in areas of diagnosis, prevention and resolution of environmental problems, applying a multidisciplinary approach. PDEA students develop their doctoral theses in the various Departments of FEUP, promoting excellence in research and technological development, while acquiring transversal skills in communication, scientific ethics, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Courses Units

Thesis Project

PDEA004 - ECTS

The objective of this UC is that students define the scope and topic of their doctoral work. Typically, the student will have to draw up a current state of the art and define an outline of the research plan, as well as present the work already done. The work developed within the scope of this UC will result in the thesis plan/project that will be submitted and subject to an oral defense.

To obtain key skills to carry out advanced level research (doctoral) in the subject of your dissertation.

Seminar I

PDEA005 - ECTS

The aim of this curricular unit is: 

  • To provide students with information and a set of perspectives regarding a wide spectrum of intervention areas and themes in Environmental Engineering;
  • To acquire complementary knowledge, skills and competences within the scope of thesis preparation;
  • To compare different methodological approaches to technical and research problems.

Introduction to Research II

PDEA007 - ECTS

Obtain key skills to carry out research at an advanced level (doctoral) in the dissertation topic.

Seminar II

PDEA008 - ECTS

The aim of this curricular unit is:
