Master in Civil Engineering

InformationCourse/CS accredited by the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES).

Objectives

The cycle of studies aims to train engineers capable of conceiving, designing and managing Civil Engineering systems, structures and construction works, applying updated and adequate methodologies of analysis, materials, equipment and processes, with respect for Ethics, Environment and the best interests of the Community.

For this, it offers training complementary to the Licentiate Degree, more comprehensive with in-depth development of its essential training aspects, and specializations in the main scientific and technical areas of Civil Engineering.

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

i. Obtain advanced knowledge in applied scientific and technological fields of Civil Engineering. It is intended to ensure a complementary training to the Degree in Civil Engineering in the areas of Structures and Geotechnics, Constructions, Spatial Planning and Transport and Hydraulics, Water Resources and Environment, including advanced knowledge in relevant aspects.

ii. Obtain skills that enable them to conceive, design and manage Civil Engineering systems, structures and works, with critical thinking in decision-making, communication skills and teamwork, and a vocation for lifelong learning.


Fields of Specialization

The Master in Civil Engineering (M.EC) offers the following Specializations:
  • Structures and Geotechnics
  • Construction
  • Urban Planning and Transports
  • Hydraulics, Water Resources and Environment

Professional Abilities

  • Design and consultancy in all fields of Civil Engineering, applied for example to: buildings, bridges, ports, dams and transport infrastrutures;
  • Territorial planning and administration, as private consultants or public administration staff;
  • Design, construction and management of water supply and drainage systems;
  • Planning and management of transport and logistics systems;
  • Management of construction works and building companies.
