Master in Information Management

Warning
The MGI program is not accepting new students after 2006/07. It has been substituted by the new Master in Information Science.



About the Course

The course includes:
The taught part - covering two semesters with eight compulsory subjects and four optional subjects chosen among eight;
Dissertation - an original research supervised by a professor, to be concluded within a year after the completion of the taught part.


Qualifications for Admissions

Engineers, managers and economists that face information as a key organizational resource, consultants in business organizations, directors of computer centers, information or documentation centers and other information professionals.

Course Aims

The course aims to develop professional skills related to the information management function in organizations. Information is assumed as an essential resource to the competitiveness and even survival of organizations: Internal information, needed to monitor organizational performance and external information required to maintain a continuous observation of the context evolution and competitors behavior.

The Information Manager has a fundamental role in the design and implementation of strategic information systems, which sustain the development of the organization.

The MSc. in Information Management is a multidisciplinary programme integrating contributions from Computer Science, Telecommunications, Management and Information Sciences.

Numerus clauses

The minimum number of students to set up one specialisation area is 10, and the Number Clausus for each course is 30 students.
