CEFT - Transport Phenomena Research Center

Acronym: CEFT CEFT - Transport Phenomena Research Center - Opens a new window
Head: João Moreira de Campos
Mission: Transport Phenomena are an horizontal scientific area with important applications in Civil, Chemical and Mechanical Engineering. This is an inter-departmental Research Unit involving staff from the Chemical and Mechanical Engineering Departments that is laying the foundations for a larger research group at the University.

In 1998, an important step towards this goal was the creation of a Master Course on one of the cornerstones of our activity entitled "Fundamentals and Applications of Fluid Mechanics". Since the subject is of interest to other groups at the Faculty of Engineering, the two year course was set up in cooperation with the Hydraulics section of the Civil Engineering Department. The academic part of the first edition of this Master Course took place in 1999/2000.

Description: The main scientific areas of research are Transport Phenomena and Multiphase Flows, but there are other scientific areas of interest, just like: Mass transfer, Combustion, Characterisation of granular materials, Non-Newtonian Flows.
