Mission:

The mission of the Department of Engineering Physics involves the creation, transmission and spread of knowledge, technology, innovation and culture in the area of Engineering Physics, to the interest of the human being, respecting all her/his rights.

Description:

The Department of Engineering Physics is formed by a body of 11 permanent professor members, supported by three administrative and technical staff members as well as several researchers and grantees.

The Department Executive Committee is composed of the Department Director,  António SilvaCarlos Pintassilgo (Subdirector), and Joana Oliviera.


Professor members of the Department are involved in the following areas:

  • Engineering Education
  • Engineering Physics in Materials and Energy
  • Space and Plasma Physics and Engineering

  • L.EA - Bachelor in Environmental Engineering  
  • L.EC - Bachelor in Civil Engineering

  • L:EF- First Degree in Engineering Physics
  • L.EMAT- Bachelor in Materials Engineering
  • L.EMG - Bachelor in Mining and Geo-Environmental Engineering

Experimental activities related to these courses are carried out in the following laboratories:  

  • Laboratório de Ensino em Eletricidade, Eletromagnetismo e Ótica
  • Laboratório de Ensino em Mecânica, Ondas e Termodinâmica
  • Laboratório de Formação Avançada em Engenharia Física
