Currently, FEUP has a student exchange agreement with only one American university: the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
Through the agreement established with that university's College of Engineering and Information Technology, students can study at UMBC for a semester, usually during the fifth year of their Integrated Master's programme, to do their final project/dissertation. Students can also take courses at UMBC but, in that case, they will have to pay tuition fees both at FEUP and at UMBC.
UMBC may invite some students to pursue postgraduate studies there, once their mobility period ends, offering scholarships for that purpose.
APPLICANTS: students from all Integrated Masters Programmes, except for the MIEC and MIEIG programmes, because UMBC does not have any programmes or departments covering those fields of study.
SCHOLARSHIP AND EXPENSES: FEUP does not offer any financial aid (e.g., scholarships) for this mobility period. Students will have to pay for visa, travel and accommodation expenses; they will also have to pay health insurance at UMBC.
