Since the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto is an internationally recognized institution, we endeavour to make international students feel at home. Specific steps are thus taken to give these students a soft landing, to help them integrate and provide support during their time here. Foreign students accepted on a course at FEUP are offered specific support not only throughout the application process, but also before their departure, when they receive an information pack by email. Once at FEUP they can enjoy a whole range of welcome activities, as well as specific support throughout their stay.

Pre-arrival Information pack

Before leaving their country of origin all students receive an email with a welcome letter containing relevant information about preparations to be made before travelling, the dates of the Orientation Days, as well as some important procedures to follow upon arrival in Portugal, in Porto and at FEUP.

Contact Point

The Cooperation Unit is responsible for organizing the Orientation Days, and is available throughout the stay for any issue or problem that may arise, whether it be an academic, economic, social, cultural or health matter. Depending on the nature of the question, students will be forwarded to the existing support structures at FEUP or abroad.

Euraxess

Researchers (including PhD students) can register at the University of Porto’s EURAXESS Centre, where they can access freely access a differentiated service of personalised assistance. EURAXESS Services is a network of more than 200 centres located in 35 countries throughout Europe. The aim is to provide support in areas related to personal and professional activity, including information about legal issues, visas, accommodation, social security, health, and opportunities for language training. It is also intended to facilitate the social and professional integration of researchers and their families (when travelling with them), allowing them to reduce the expense of bureaucratic and procedural matters
