Nuno Fidalgo was born in Porto, Portugal. He graduated in Electrical Engineering and Computers in 1984 the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) in 1984, and received the Ph.D. degree from the same faculty, in 1995. He joined FEUP in 1984 and joined the Center for Power and Energy Systems of INESC TEC (then INESC Norte) in 1985.

He is the coordinator of the domain Energy Analytics and Forecasting, of the Center for Power and Energy Systems of INESC TEC.

He has been responsible for many national and international research projects, and has authored or co-authored hundreds of technical and scientific publications. His main research interests include pattern recognition, computational intelligence and neural networks and its applications to power systems. He was involved in research and industry projects involving forecasting, systems planning, load and loss profiling, impact of climate changes in the energy mix, losses estimation, identification of abnormal consumption patterns.

Member of the Scientific Committee of the Doctoral Program in Electrical Engineering and Computers.
