The scientific activity of TL1 will contribute to a more sustainable built environment, by:
- Promoting the use of sustainable materials
- Reducing the use of natural resources
- Reduction of waste to landfill
- Mitigation of the impact of climate change
The strategic plan considers 4 research topics:
- Geosynthetics and their contribution to sustainable development
- Valorisation of Construction and Demolition Waste as recycled aggregates
- Alkaline cements and prefabricated products incorporating different waste materials
- Cementitious materials compatible with the digitalization and industrialization of construction, namely fibre reinforced cementitious materials and cementitious composites for 3D printing
