Academic Affairs Council 2022-2026
The Academic Affairs Council comprises 16 members, distributed between representatives of the teaching or research staff and representatives of students. It comprises:
- the Dean, who presides;
- the Vice-President of the Academic Affairs Council;
- six representatives of teaching staff from FEUP programmes, from any cycle of studies;
- eight representatives of students, from any cycle of studies.
The Academic Affairs Council has the following powers and duties:
- to draw up and approve regulations for its proper functioning;
- to issue opinions on pedagogical guidelines and teaching and assessment methods;
- to promote regular surveys about FEUP's pedagogical performance and to promote the analysis and dissemination of the results thereof;
- to promote the evaluation of the teaching staff's pedagogical performance, done both by the teaching staff and by the students, and to promote the analysis and dissemination of the results thereof;
- to review complaints about pedagogical shortcomings and to propose the measures necessary to counteract them;
- to approve the regulations for pedagogical issues and for student assessment;
- to issue opinions on periods of limitation and precedence systems;
- to issue opinions on the creation of cycles of study involving FEUP, and to approve the corresponding curricula;
- to issue opinions on the creation of academic awards;
- to issue opinions on the academic calendar and on the FEUP exam schedule;
- to issue opinions on its own electoral regulations.
