Special Topics (7,5 ECTS) is an elective course:
• aiming at offering new fields of study not available in the curriculum.
• In the 2009/2010 academic year, 2nd semester, the PDEEC Scientific Committee (SC) will credit 7,5 ECTS to this course to students involved in teaching activities, as Teaching Assistant (TA) in DEEC/FEUP. This is inline with the deliberation issued by the “Comissão Coordenadora da FEUP” in January, 2009. Teaching activity is also a requirement in the dual PhD program with CMU

Goals:

• To expose TAs to teaching activities, including labs and lectures.

• To create opportunities for TAs to use their expertise and skills to assist in course curriculum development and in course planning.

• To give PDEEC students the opportunity to be involved in teaching activities in 1st and 2nd cycle courses offered by the Department.

Requirements:

Teaching activity in all type of classes (T, TP, P, L)

Teaching activity in lectures: teach two different topics in theoretical lectures.

Teaching activity in P and L classes: prepare the teaching material (set of problems, experimental guides), set-up the experiments, elaborate the, to assist lab classes, to evaluate students lab work.

How to apply:

• Enrol in Special Topics course offered in the 2nd Semester and inform the PDEEC SC of your interest in being involved in teaching activities.

• Interact with PDEEC Scientific Committee that will try to find the teaching supervisor and the  1st or 2nd cycle course offered by DEEC/FEUP.

Evaluation:

• The performance will be evaluated by the teaching supervisor, taking into consideration the requirements.
